This is one of two girl who were promoting the second annual Electric Garage Calgary Collector Car Auction this weekend (June 4-7, 2009) at the Grey Eagle Casino (37 Street and Glenmore Trail SW). They had a few cars on display along Stephen Avenue. Both girls were very nice about posing for pictures.

The 20th Annual Lilac Festival was held in Calgary along 4 Street SW, from 12-25 Avenue on Sunday, May 31, 2009 in Calgary. It featured a parade, street vendors, and a variety of entertainment. Weather was good and attendance seemed high.

Runner #798, Lisa Harvey runs East along 10 Avenue. She finished 1st among the women in the 10K, and placed 13th overall. Harvey competed in the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona. More details are in this story in the Calgary Herald.

Calgary Pillow Fight 2009 is on

A friendly public pillow fight was planned for Tomkins Park (17 Avenue and 8 Street SW) in Calgary on Saturday, April 4, 2009 (International Pillow Fight Day). The City found out and warned organizers that they had to get a permit or they would be fined and/or arrested. So, officially it was cancelled, but some people showed up anyhow, and generally kept the "fight" to the side walk. There was a signficant police and bylaw officer presence, but they seemed to sit back, and let a small number of people do a little pillow fighting, without incident.

Well, actually there were no feathers at all. Zero mess was made, that I saw. It wasn't very cold, but it was cold enough to wear a coat, so it showed some committment to the cause to dress in sleepwear on this day.
