I first spotted the skateboarders along Stephen Avenue, heading to City Hall Plaza. Shortly after this shot, a couple cops, chatted with a couple skateboarders, and then went on their way, without any incident. Generally, while I was present, police seemed to stay out of site.
The 20th Annual Lilac Festival was held in Calgary along 4 Street SW, from 12-25 Avenue on Sunday, May 31, 2009 in Calgary. It featured a parade, street vendors, and a variety of entertainment. Weather was good and attendance seemed high.

These are some of the people that the City authorities are trying to protect us from. Who knows what would have happened if the the police and bylaw officers didn't show up in strength.
