The 20th Annual Lilac Festival was held in Calgary along 4 Street SW, from 12-25 Avenue on Sunday, May 31, 2009 in Calgary. It featured a parade, street vendors, and a variety of entertainment. Weather was good and attendance seemed high.

The 11th Annual Speak Out Disability Pride Festival was held in downtown Calgary on May 29, 2009. It featured a noon hour disability pride parade on Olympic Plaza and Stephen Avenue Mall.
