This wasn't actually the intended target (I was going for a wide angle crowd shot). But, this was the best part (or only good part) of the photo. It sort of caught the mood I felt from the weather and other things.
People gathered at Olympic Plaza, in downtown Calgary, on Monday, October 5, 2009. I missed most of the event (I didn't know about it in advance), but I understand it was organized to express concern for the large number of missing and murdered aboriginal women in Canada in recent years.
Water levels are fairly low right now, making it possible to walk out on some mini-islands in the Bow River, that would normally be difficult to get to, without a boat.
It was setup as a magic act, where the girl from the audience would stab the magician. But, it turned to a comedy routine, with him calling her crazy for actually being about to stab him. No stabbing took place.
