Protesters gathered outside the Hyatt along Stephen Avenue Mall in downtown Calgary to protest against the Alberta Adolescent Recovery Centre (AARC). The AARC was featured in a documentary by the CBC's Fifth Estate, which includes some very disturbing stories of abuse.

Undercover(?) Cop Harasses Photographer in Calgary

note: Initially the face of the self-declared "undercover" cop (2nd from right) was pixilated. But, since then, I have revealed it, as I believe there is a serious threat to public safety from people who say they're police, fail to provide any ID, and who engage in secret/undocumented detentions.

Freedom of Speech needed in China

Protesters in Calgary gathered outside the Chinese consulate to commemorate the 20th Anniversary of the Tiananmen Square Massacre, which took place on June 4, 1989. It was a peaceful gathering, watched by a typically oversized police presence.

Magnificent Mezzo Soprano

Barbara King is a mezzo-soprano opera singer currently residing in Calgary. She was performing at Livingston Place (200-block of 2nd Avenue SW). It was a show put on for tenants, by Bentall, who runs the office complex. She's an exceptional singer, who can carry her voice very far, while maintaining amazing quality.

This is one of two girl who were promoting the second annual Electric Garage Calgary Collector Car Auction this weekend (June 4-7, 2009) at the Grey Eagle Casino (37 Street and Glenmore Trail SW). They had a few cars on display along Stephen Avenue. Both girls were very nice about posing for pictures.
