Protesters gathered on Stephen Avenue Mall on June 23, 2009, outside The Bay, to show support for demonstrators in Iran, who rejected the recent election as rigged, and have been severely repressed.
ATB was doing some sort of promotion that included these stilt walkers on Stephen Avenue in downtown Calgary. I felt embarrassed because after I asked to take their photo, my camera froze, and I had to restart it, while they waited.
I first spotted the skateboarders along Stephen Avenue, heading to City Hall Plaza. Shortly after this shot, a couple cops, chatted with a couple skateboarders, and then went on their way, without any incident. Generally, while I was present, police seemed to stay out of site.
