I first spotted the skateboarders along Stephen Avenue, heading to City Hall Plaza. Shortly after this shot, a couple cops, chatted with a couple skateboarders, and then went on their way, without any incident. Generally, while I was present, police seemed to stay out of site.

Go Skateboarding Day was marked on June 21, 2009 by hundreds of people skateboarding at multiple sites throughout downtown Calgary.

For the best overall representation of the day see this video by Moulton Steel Productions. Near the end, in an incident I didn’t see personally, an officer actually threatened skateboarders in the street with unleashing his attack dog on them.
