Grant Neufeld is one of the more well known activists in Calgary for some time. So, it wasn't surprising to seem him here. It was generally hard to get photos, because of how everyone was gathered around in a circle, so that all I could get was people's backs. So, I had to wait for a head turn.
This is from a regular small anti-abortion protest I've been seeing downtown. I had mixed feeling about showing the graphic picture. I'd probably show equally graphic pictures of animal rights activists or anti-war demonstrators.

Kelly Christie (left) is one of the most active cannabis activists in Calgary working for legalization. He was also a candidate in Calgary Southwest for the Green Party in the 2008 federal election.
The Calgary Police had a substantial presence. They mainly watched and took lots of pictures. There were a few arrests, but not many, and relations between police and demonstrators remained civil throughout.
