Metal Star (white balance corrected)
I took this is on a night time (when night starts at 5:08pm) photo walk (take a guess where in Calgary). I haven't figured out if I prefer it with the white balance "fixed" or with the shot setting (see previous photo). A third version, is with a flash, so the foreground is "correct" white, and the background has the redish look.

I got a Canon Rebel T1i (500D) earlier this month (October 2009), and found it the sensors picked multiple red dots, when I had a long exposure, with the lens cap on (or just a dark background). I brought it in, and the store (Future Shop in Calgary) replaced it under my Extended Warranty. But, now, I have a single purple dot. I'm wandering how common is this type of problem? It doesn't appear with shorter exposure times used in daytime photography. So, is this something I should accept or protest about. Two in a row seems bad. But, it's something I think most people wouldn't notice.

Calgary had it's annual Zombie Walk on Saturday, October 17, 2009. The undead arose at Olympic Plaza, staggered down Stephen Avenue Walk, then limped to Tomkins Park for a rest, and finally undied at Shaw Millennium Park. This year the event was used to collect food and funds for the Calgary Inter-Faith Food Bank. For the first time, I used a Canon EF 50mm f/1.88 II lens, which for it's price, is quite good for what I wanted, which was to create a small depth of field effect, and to have a fast shutter speed.
