Runner #798, Lisa Harvey runs East along 10 Avenue. She finished 1st among the women in the 10K, and placed 13th overall. Harvey competed in the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona. More details are in this story in the Calgary Herald.
The run and walk started at the Calgary Tower, where participants were cheered on by the Outriders, the cheerleaders of the Calgary Stampeders. They seemed to evoke the biggest cheers from the construction site across the street.
This is a structure by the Sunnyside LRT station. Like others, it has upward pointing bristles that are supposed to keep the birds from nesting. This (apparent) momma pigeon discovered the bristles make it a great place to raise her young (adjacent picture). Maybe the bristles keep out other birds.
