FlickR Album: Burma Rally 2007-09-29

A rally against the Myanmar/Burmese government was held on September 29, 2007. The focus was on the most recent crackdown on opposition by the military dictatorship. Most were from the Burmese community, but many were not. Most speakers shared experiences of themselves or friends and family.I suspect the urgency of the events in Burma, caused the gathering to not have lots of organizing, and I would say the demonstration didn’t do a lot to engage the public. But given the small size of the Burmese community, this was a very good turnout, and show of support.Please note, there was also a Support the Monks’ protest in Burma rally on October 6, 2007.
