Fire in the hole

Actually, I only saw smoke, and have no idea if there was a fire.

Smoke seemed to be coming out of this hole along 7th Avenue, across from the 1 Street SW train platform. From what I heard this caused or was related to some electrical problems for the C-Train. Train service was disrupted along 7th Avenue this day (Saturday, March 21, 2009). It wasn’t clear what was due to this problem, and what was due to protesters walking in the middle of 7th Avenue (a clash of anti-racists and the Aryan Guard). Regardless, it was a tough day for Calgary Transit employees and riders. I’ll post some pics of the protesters later.
