Sidney May Weich is a Canadian singer/songwriter from Calgary. She plays a hybrid of folk and pop music. Her streamable singles include Back To It and We Know This.
Music career
While attending school in Vancouver, she won the second annual Anza showcase put on by the Anza Club. Sidney has been a finalist in the Calgary Folk Fest songwriting competition, a featured songwriter for Femme Fest, and Local Drops Female songwriter spotlight. In Calgary, she has been part of the YYC music program where she played weekly at the airport.
In 2011 she performed several songs at the Caffe Crema Music Showcase in Calgary, which were posted on YouTube. Titles include Classy, Leavin, Valentine, and Fireplace.
In 2018, Sidney performed the song We Know This in a video produced by 7 and 17th, which has produced and recorded video sessions from various artists in Calgary.
The single “We Know This” was her first single released for streaming on Spotify in 2020. In 2022, she released the single Back To It, which can alse be streamed on her Spotify page.
Personal life
Sidney was born and raised in Calgary. She moved to BC in 2016 to attend Capilano University in North Vancouver. In 2018, she came back to Calgary to attend Mount Royal University, where she graduated in 2021 with a Bachelor of Arts in English. She received the Alexander Rutherford and Jason Lang scholarships.
Sidney is an avid reader and writer of poetry. She works as a Care Coordinator at a non-profit, assisting vulnerable people.
