In the summer of 2007 she competed in the Miss Sun and Salsa pageant. The pageant, founded by Lisa Harrigan, was part of the Sun and Salsa Festival that was held annually in the Kensington community of Calgary. Yamoah won the pageant, winning the title Miss Sun and Salsa 2007. She was part of the winning Royal Trio, which included Jessica Tsang as Sun Princess and Veronica Millan as Salsa Princess. The Royal Trio made a variety of appearances over the following year, representing and promoting the Kensington community and Calgary.

Yamoah later entered the Miss Universe Canada 2008 competition, which was won by Samantha Tajik. She again entered for 2012, when Sahar Biniaz won the competition, while Yamoah was named first runner up. However, Biniaz had to resign her title, before the Miss Universe competition. So, as first runner-up, Yamoha took Biniaz’s place. Yamoah represented Canada in the international pageant, held in Las Vegas. As part of the competition, each contestant had to wear a national costume. Yamoha opted for an outfit featuring flags of various flags, to represent the diversity of national origins in Canada. Olivia Culpo, from the United States, became Miss Universe 2012.

Photo notes

I took the first two photos above at the the Miss Sun and Salsa pageant in 2007, when she won. In the second photo, Yamoha is seen being crowned by her predecessor, Miss Sun and Salsa 2006 Bebeci Chen. The last photo was in 2008, when Yamoha and the rest of the Royal Trio of 2007, were present to crown their 2008 successors.
