Joanne Costello spoke to the crowd about Condoleezza Rice. The former U.S. Secretary of State was inside the Hyatt (off camera, to the right). You can read Costello’s thoughts on Rice in the Marginal Notes blog entry titled "My University is Being Hijacked and Condi is Among the Terrorists!".
The University of Calgary brought Condoleezza Rice to Calgary to speak at the launch of the School of Public Policy. I heard it was a $500/plate affair. A few dozen (?) people showed up outside the Hyatt in downtown Calgary to protest her presence there. It was much more subdued than the March 17, 2009 speech by Bush in Calgary.
