PETA protesters "dressed" as seals and "played dead" along Stephen Avenue Mall in downtown Calgary. They’re trying to make a link between the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver with Canada’s seal hunt. Of course VANOC has nothing to do with the seal hunt
Personally, I think it’s wrong to politicize the Vancouver Olympic Committee for something they’re not part of. Maybe next, somebody will insist that the NHL condemn the Afghan war. Also, the depiction of the beating death of white coat seal pup (implied in the placard to the right) is misleading, since that was terminated in 1987. Oddly, PETA is now on good terms with a restaurant serving meat (KFC Canada), but not a sports organization.
